Ms. Thalhofer and Mr. Thum from BDLI visit DLR GfR
Mr. Thum, CEO of BDLI, and Ms. Thalhofer, Head of Aerospace, visited DLR GfR in Oberpfaffenhofen.
Mr. Päffgen, CEO of DLR GfR, introduced the company’s work, in particular on Galileo.
It has been discussed on how DLR GfR can possibly be more involved in the BDLI, as a medium-sized company. DLR GfR is a member at BDLI since 2020.
The German Aerospace Industries Association represents a strategically important high-tech sector, in which Germany and Europe take a leading global role. With about 250 members, BDLI also represents interests of a sector, which is characterized by international technology leadership and global success.
Mr. Thum was highly impressed by the performances of DLR GfR in connection with the program for the European satellite navigation system Galileo.
Galileo is Europe‘s own global satellite navigation system (GNSS), providing a highly accurate, guaranteed global positioning service under civilian control. The fully operational Galileo system consists of, in total, 30 satellites orbiting the earth in three circular Medium Earth Orbits (MEO) at an altitude of 23 222 km. The orbital planes have an inclination of 56 degrees to the equator. First services have been available since December 15th 2016.
