Corporate and quality policy

Navigating the Future.

We are the DLR Gesellschaft für Raumfahrtanwendungen mbH, DLR GfR for short. At the Oberpfaffenhofen control center, we direct and monitor the activities of the Galileo satellite constellation – Europe’s global satellite navigation and timing system.

Galileo is the only satellite navigation system of its kind under civilian control. And it is the most precise. As the principal responsible body, we take on all tasks that ensure the secure and disruption-free functioning of the constellation on behalf of the European Commission. This is something that over two billion smartphone users rely on each day.

We aspire to be permanently responsible for running and maintaining the Galileo constellation as well as future navigation systems and would like to offer our knowhow to other navigation services.

Take the High Ground.

Our expectations of ourselves go beyond purely meeting customer requirements. We do not settle for simple solutions.

The continuous improvement of our services motivates our employees, satisfies our customers and helps us to make the Galileo system more accessible. We achieve this through lessons learned sessions, audits, reviews and direct feedback from employees.

We are committed to actively identifying and complying with current legal regulations, client requirements, and other demands.

The sky is not the limit.

We do not only focus on the operation of satellites and ground segments, but also use our know-how to develop innovative concepts in satellite operations and navigation.

We have an effective risk management system that helps us identify risks and seize opportunities on a daily basis. Early identification, assessment and prevention of risks as well as open communication about potential risks are an integral part of our processes.

Space travel. Inspiring. Europe

We are one of the most unique employers in Europe. Always looking towards the future, we distinguish ourselves through constant innovation and passion for what we do. Thanks to the outstanding skills of our individual employees and our team spirit, we are able to master the challenges we face every day. The training, support and ongoing professional development of our employees are therefore central aspects of our organization.

A space mission is only as successful as the people behind it. As an important part of the European lighthouse project Galileo, we are dedicated to playing our part in moving Europe forward in digitization. We maintain constructive and trusting relationships with our project partners and contractors.
